This route was specially created for the ones who like some adrenaline in their contact with Nature.

The Carretão trail is just one of several historical routes from Cuiabá to Chapada dos Guimarães and can be done hiking or, for the daring, by bike.

It goes into Chapada dos Guimarães National Park across Mount St. Jeronimo area, where one finds beautiful cerrado landscapes, sanstone formations carved along the ages and several linked trails offering viewpoints to the whole region.

The route leads to to St. Jeronimo Comunity, where one can have a typical galinhada dish and prove some of the delicious local pineapple besides several fruits, depending on the season. It can be done in both ways, but the up-hill is quite harder.

Crossing several streams, with cascades and clear springs, the trail goes along gallery forests that shelter lot of bird species, one of world´s largest butterfly variety and many insects that still unknown by science.

The tour may vary its route and duration, including overnights in local communities or even in the forest, sleeping in tent or hammock.

We support several groups simultaneously, working with a local guides team. There is also overnight place in house or camping in pleasant area of Chapada dos Guimarães.

The bikes for rent are aluminium framed, 18 or 21 gears. The bikers may also bring their own one or buy it at Cuiabá.

Best months for biking in Chapada are apr/jun and oct/dec, when there is more water in streams and some temporary watrfalls, no dust and clear air, with sparse rains.

Think of this option when asking for your personalized package.
